Lync RugbyStars is a rugby-based play program for 2–7 year old boys and girls (and their parent or ‘grown up’) which provides fun, and engaging activities for all abilities. Our sessions provide a safe, enjoyable environment for children to learn new skills, gain confidence, make new friends and have an exciting introduction to our amazing sport of rugby.

 

Our classes are structured and consist of a warm up, catch and pass activities with parents, obstacle courses, kicking activities, tag, and fun games at the end.

Our Classes

2 – 3 years

(Toddler Class)

 

Our 2 – 3 Years class lasts 30 minutes and will encourage children to:

 

  • Get them moving with various fun activities

  • Interact with other children and parents

  • Learn new skills such has holding a rugby ball, passing, coordination, balance and kicking a ball

  • Follow basic, fun instructions and assist with the development of, for example, counting, learning about shapes and numbers.

  • Having a fun exciting introduction to rugby

4 – 5 years

(Pre-School and Early Years)

 

Our 4 – 5 Years class will last 45 mins and will consist of activities designed to:

 

  • Further develop your child’s social and physical skillset in an encouraging way

  • Encourage the children to pass and kick with confidence

  • Encourage the children to create space, score tries, run with the ball in two hands.

  • Give the children and introduction to tag rugby

  • Encourage team work and getting the children to work as part of a team

  • Fill the session with lots of new skills and lots of fun

6 – 7 years

(Key stage 1)

 

Our 6 – 7 Years classes are 45 minutes and are designed to implement all the new skills and experiences learned from previous years, to get them ready for all aspects of your child’s rugby journey after Rugby Stars.  We will begin to prepare them for tag rugby by:

 

  • Continuing to teach basic rugby skills such as passing, kicking, running with two hands whilst gaining self-esteem and confidence

 

  • Gradually introduce the rules of tag rugby to prepare the children for the next stage of their rugby adventure!
